6 months to a year
This is one of the most difficult piercing to heal. Tight clothes, excessive exercise, and
kids climbing on your stomach,
tend to irritate and hinder the healing process.
Clean your piercing 2 times daily. Use the general piercing care. Do not use other
products other than suggested.
Over cleaning can cause you a problem. Don't play with
your piercing with dirty hands. Don't move the jewelry in and out
if there is dried matter
on it. You could scratch or irritate the tissue and slow down healing process. If you are
having
problems, use the salt-water soak, hot bath, or occasional use of an ointment on
the jewelry after cleaning. Oils, lotions,
and friction can lead to failure. Any weight
hanging from the piercing might be a problem.. After healing maybe a colorful
bead or
light charm. Avoid materials such as malachite, lapis, hazuli, and tiger's eye. these can
cause reactions in
the piercing. Use hard dense materials such as, garnet, amethyst, onyx, agate, quartz, etc.
Pregnant women may want to save their piercing at or around the 8th month by changing to a barbell or a piece of monofilament
nylon. They can be taken out just prior to delivery and reinserted after birth. If the piercing is not well healed it is best
to let it go
and try again later.

breast feeding once the piercing is healed, some women prefer to keep their jewelry in throughout breast feeding, and others
